In 2020, Validity will be starting a new strategic period, responding to new and emerging challenges globally to the human rights of persons with mental disabilities.
Despite our strong track record of tackling widespread and systematic violations including institutionalisation, guardianship and segregation in education, new challenges are emerging. From the role of international development funding to catalysing forward-movement in stalling deinstitutionalisation strategies, persons with disabilities are seeking Validity’s specialist legal support more than ever before.
Validity is growing our specialist core team to provide enhanced support for disability rights movements in Europe and internationally. We are looking for a passionate, independent and experienced professional to join our dynamic team.

A creative and independent-minded upstart, the Communications Officer is an experienced and dynamic media professional with a passion for advancing human rights and social justice. They are an influential writer and an inspirational public speaker who uses their talents to raise the voices of Validity’s clients, partners and staff as strongly as possible, ensuring that the messages reach those who need to hear.

They have the ability to conceptualise, manage and implement highly impactful media initiatives to strengthen Validity’s impact for persons with disabilities in Europe and Africa, ensuring strong messaging in alignment with the organisation’s strategic goals. With the charisma and drive to build a thriving and engaging online presence for the organisation, the Communications Officer is also adept at responding to time-sensitive press and media opportunities, drawing on their extensive networks of media contacts around the world. They are quick – but also know how to develop strong and supportive partnerships with diplomacy and respect at the core.

The Communications Officer will substantially increase Validity’s public visibility in key geographies and internationally at a time of growth for the organisation, opening up new audiences and providing a significant contribution to advancing the organisation’s human rights goals.
