Tasks
- Responsible for the finances of the Budapest entity as well as Validity’s sister charity in the UK
- Prepare organisational budgets and budgets for fundraising bids
- Authorise contracts, cash and bank payments
- Cash-flow management and forecasting
- Supervise maintaining and reconciling booking data in the accounting system, occasional booking of certain transactions
- Do month-end and year-end closing with the accountant
- Produce financial reports for internal use and for donors, and evaluate balances against forecasts
- Participate in audits
- Maintain an effective internal control according to the statutory requirements and Validity’s Finance Policy
- Manage Validity’s office administration function to ensure it operates in a timely, efficient and cost-effective manner.
- Supervise Validity’s Administrative Assistant
Requirements
- Finance / Accounting / Chartered Accountant qualification or relevant experience
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in an international environment
- Knowledge of NGO accounting, reporting practices and procedures preferred
- Excellent spoken and written English
- Fluent Hungarian
- Advanced Excel skills, knowledge of accounting programmes is an asset
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and inter-personal skills with a can-do approach and service-mindedness.
