Tasks

  • Responsible for the finances of the Budapest entity as well as Validity’s sister charity in the UK
  • Prepare organisational budgets and budgets for fundraising bids
  • Authorise contracts, cash and bank payments
  • Cash-flow management and forecasting
  • Supervise maintaining and reconciling booking data in the accounting system, occasional booking of certain transactions
  • Do month-end and year-end closing with the accountant
  • Produce financial reports for internal use and for donors, and evaluate balances against forecasts
  • Participate in audits
  • Maintain an effective internal control according to the statutory requirements and Validity’s Finance Policy
  • Manage Validity’s office administration function to ensure it operates in a timely, efficient and cost-effective manner.
  • Supervise Validity’s Administrative Assistant

Requirements

  • Finance / Accounting / Chartered Accountant qualification or relevant experience
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in an international environment
  • Knowledge of NGO accounting, reporting practices and procedures preferred
  • Excellent spoken and written English 
  • Fluent Hungarian 
  • Advanced Excel skills, knowledge of accounting programmes is an asset
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and inter-personal skills with a can-do approach and service-mindedness.
