The fundraiser will be an important part of the ERRC team. The successful candidate will track existing grants and coordinate grant reporting and donor relations, and more importantly lead the search for new funding sources. The fundraiser will coordinate the ERRC’s response to calls for proposals from international organisations, bilateral donors, and private foundations, and ensure that the ERRC has the proper approach, external partnerships, processes, and tools to respond to and manage such opportunities.
The fundraiser has primary responsibility for developing and implementing a new fundraising strategy in order to:
- Secure resources from international funders and identify opportunities for supporting the development of income from foundations, institutions, public funding sources, and high net-worth individuals.
- Build and maintain relationships with, and support from, a range of relevant global funders.
- Develop and build a strong and extensive international network that will generate knowledge, insight, and information leading to contact with potential funders.
- Represent the ERRC externally with confidence in respect of its programmes generally, and its fundraising strategy specifically.
- Provide direct support on programme development and design on large or complex applications where the team lacks donor-specific knowledge that would significantly increase the chances of success.

- Knowledge of languages spoken by many Roma.
- Significant experience living and working in a Roma community.
- Proven and relevant experience in fundraising/development.
- Experience of developing and implementing long-term fundraising strategies, coordinating inputs from a range of stakeholders and adapting these strategies to take account of changes and/or stakeholder needs.
- Experience in developing relationships and delivering fundraising proposals and reports to funders, in particular foundations and institutional funders.
- Experience of engaging, nurturing and maintaining funder relationships across all levels.
- Experience of senior internal and external engagement which have led to the inception of new relationships/partnerships.
- Demonstrated experience in financial management, including developing forecasts and budgets and monitoring expenditure for a diverse range of projects including experience in analysing, compiling and editing budgetary information for large projects.
- Experience in monitoring and overseeing budgets and taking decisions on most cost-effective solutions, taking into considerations funders’ requirements.
- Proven ability to write and edit compelling, creative, succinct, and clear proposals and reports.
- Willingness and ability to travel.
Skills and Qualifications Required
- Relevant professional qualification and/or membership of relevant professional body desirable but not essential.
- Excellent computer and IT skills, including the use of standard MS software packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), as well as ability to use fundraising databases.
- Fluency in relevant language(s) other than English would be an advantage.
- Willingness and enthusiasm to contribute to ERRC-wide responsibilities and development, where appropriate, in pursuit of the ERRC’s mission and vision.
- Excellent judgment and creative abilities, including influencing, negotiating and problem solving skills.
- Versatility to combine self-management and self-support when working alone with productive team membership and leadership.
- Empathy with and interest in the ERRC’s mission and objectives.
