The Tom Lantos Institute (TLI) is looking for qualified applicants for the position of Programme Implementation Officer, supporting the implementation of TLI’s Roma Rights and Citizenship and Jewish Life and Antisemitism programmes. The position is full time (40 hours/week) and it is based in Budapest.

Job specifications:

  • Administration and Programme Implementation Support (80%)

    • Programme implementation support, contributing to planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of project activities, and preparation of fundraising applications, donor reports and other project materials;

    • Project administration, ensuring effective record keeping and filing of project documentation, supporting budget holders in the administration of financial tasks, including drafting budgets and expenditure reports, managing cash-flows, preparing contracts and liaising with project partners as requested;

    • Event organisation, including catering, accommodation, and travel; online event organisation.

  • Communication (20%)

    • Assisting in the development of project communication plans and preparing relevant materials, including social media posts, calls and website materials (in Hungarian and English).

Required qualifications and skills:

  • At least a graduate degree in management, public administration, political science, human rights, international relations or any other related field;

  • Hungarian to the level of native speaker; impeccable written Hungarian;

  • Fluent in spoken and written English;

  • Advanced computer skills (e.g. word processing, spreadsheets, Wordpress, database, etc);

  • Strong organisational skills and attention to details;

  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure;

  • Excellent communication, writing and numeracy skills;

  • Ability to work autonomously and as a member of a team;

  • Minimum two years of relevant professional experience in providing administrative and logistical support and managing project activities;

  • Interest in human rights, minority rights, Roma and Jewish life.

Desirable candidates also have:

  • Experience in the field of human rights or work with Jewish, Roma, or Hungarian minority communities and/or other ethnic or national, linguistic and religious minorities; fundraising skills.
