Next Step Hungary Association is seeking to recruit a committed, self-motivated and enthusiastic candidate with background in the social field to the position of Project Coordinator. This is a full time position (40 hours/week), contracted until 31 December 2021.

About Next Step

Next Step is a non-profit organisation with a mission to engage with and support foreigners and locals through a solution-oriented approach of promoting employability and community integration. Next Step offers free and low-cost opportunities to gain in-demand vocational and IT skills that improve access to the job market. We also support integration through public informational and cultural events that bring together an active community of foreigners and locals on topics of mutual interest.

Role of the Project Coordinator

The Project Coordinator will be responsible for the complete cycle of implementation of selected educational projects provided by Next Step Association as well as the organisation of other public informational and cultural events both online and offline.

The functions of the role comprise the administrative, financial and organisational aspects of programme implementation. The work will be done in cooperation and consultation with other Next Step team members, such as the president, the project manager, the legal advisors, and the accountant.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Coordinating certain educational and skill development activities of the Association, including preparation/planning work, managing implementation of the activities and fulfilling reporting obligations

  • Maintaining regular contact with beneficiaries and taking care of the administration regarding their needs and participation in activities

  • Taking care of proper accounting records, adequate documentation, and careful filing of documents connected to the activities

  • Organizing public informational and cultural events and online activities

  • Supporting the work of the project manager with procurements, preparing agreements, reaching out to potential partners and external service providers

  • Reporting to the president of Next Step about the progress and challenges of the assigned processes on a regular basis

  • Cooperating with the donors, preparing financial and narrative project reports in a timely manner

Gross salary

375,000 HUF gross/month for a full-time position of 40 hours/week

Experience and skills

Required

  • Education: bachelor’s or master’s degree

  • At least 2 years of working experience in project management in the social sector

  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and the needs of the beneficiaries

  • Excellent people skills, ability to communicate comfortably in different social contexts and with people of other cultures and backgrounds

  • Ability to manage financial tasks and communicate with financial controllers

  • Solid skills in standard office computer applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Google Docs and Drive

  • Open-mindedness and willingness to take and incorporate feedback

  • Strong sense of teamwork and commitment to contribute to the mission and success of the Association

  • Excellent speaking and writing skills in English (C1 level) and in Hungarian (C2 level)

Preferred

  • People with experience in social work are highly encouraged to apply!

  • Working or volunteering experience in the non-profit sector

  • Experience in working with vulnerable communities

  • Educational background related to administration, finance, project management or social sciences is an asset.
